The Urban Wine Company has been established to support the development of a collective movement of urban wine growers, committed to producing wine grown locally within communities. Production is achieved around a collective system, which importantly brings the scale needed for professional vineyard viticulture techniques and importantly encourages friendship, support and enjoyment amongst its member communities.
We’ve realised quickly that making wine is lots of fun. As a result we very much want you to share in this experience. As a member of The Urban Wine Company, you will access our annual grape pressing, so that you will see your garden or allotment grapes returned as bottled wine, produced from that year’s urban harvest. Our winery partner has expertise unavailable to local growers without scale and so as a member of The Urban Wine Company, your local harvest will be subject to the highest standards of wine making scrutiny to ensure that you receive a good quality wine.
If you have a mature vine and you know that your grapes are suitable for wine, then you are in a position to join up as a producer member. If you do not have a vine, don’t worry, we can supply you one and advise you how to get started as a developer member. (see membership page for details).
The Urban Wine Company’s critical ingredient is the power to bring people closer together. You meet people who you may feel have nothing in common with and a new world is opened up through a common shared interest. The existing members have met dozens of people through The Urban Wine Company’s production and would like to see more and more people experience both the fun or production and the friendship and community that comes with membership.
